Every coach or manager has his special players. Look at Dick Vermeil with Dante Hall. In that case Vermeil's hunch payed off, as did Pena's on opening day. But in the end, you need to rely on cold, hard facts. Lopez isn't getting the job done, and has shown little that would indicate he is a legitimate major leaguer. Baird needs to shove that stat sheet in Pena's face. A .100 batting average doesn't lie.
